The New Samsung Galaxy Ace DUOS preview

Galaxy Ace DUOS
The new Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos is the latest addition to the Samsung Galaxy Series and also the brother of the older version of the Galaxy Ace. The Ace Duos packs an 800Mhz processor Qualcomm Processor which packs Gingerbread Anroid 2.3 OS. The Ace Duos comes with a 3MP camera while the older version had a 5MP camera. The screen size is 3.5 inches, same as the old Ace.

The visible difference between Galaxy Ace DUOS and Galaxy Ace s5830 is that the DUOS version packs a more powerful battery(1650mAh) compared to a 1350mAh battery. The Galaxy Ace DUOS is now priced at 13899/- and is not worth it.

I suggest you spend the 13k to buy a Motorola Defy or maybe a Sony Walkman live which gives you more at the same price.

Best economical Android mobile phone in India

Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
We believe that when you spend your hard earned money into buying something, it should be worth what you are paying, So we are here to help you buy an Android mobile under Rs18000 which provide you the best value for your money and we zeroed in on three mobiles. The Motorola Defy Plus, The Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V and the Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray. My requirements are Android 2.3, A 1Ghz processor, A good graphics card and a pretty decent display size. The only three sets that matched these requirements were the ones above.

The Motorola Defy Plus

I earlier had written about this power packed mobile at Motorola Defy Plus in India. The Motorola Defy Plus is one smartphone that anyone would love to have. The phone is packed with super specifications at the price offered. The Defy Plus runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and has a 3.7 inch touchscreen which makes it a biggie. The phone is packed with a 1GHz processor and a 5Mega Pixel primary camera. The Defy has a decent resolution of 480x854 pixels. The device is equipped with Gorilla glass and is scratch resistant and Water proof.

Pros:
  • Android Gingerbread OS
  • 2GB Internal memory ( most other phones have less than 1GB of internal memory)
  • 3.7 inch and 480x854 pixel resolution
  • Gorilla Glass display
  • Waterproof and Dust proof.
  • Good battery backup.
Cons:
  • 5 MP camera doesn't live up to competitor standards.
  • only 480p video recording compared to 720p among competitors
  • No front camera or secondary camera for video calling.
Price: Rs 15990/- from Flipkart

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V is a smaller version of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo which packed better performance and an 8MP Camera. The camera is just 5MP compared to the Neo, which is why they have 'V' in the name of the phone. The Neo V has a 3.7 inch screen with a resolution of 480x854 pixels and has a 1GHz Processor.

Pros:
  • Plays and Records 720p Video
  • Good Camera when compared to competitor 5MP Camera phones
  • Good Display with TFT LCD.
  • HDMI out, i.e Neo can be connected to TV, Monitors etc with an HDMI port.
  • Android Ginger bread OS
Cons:
  • Low Internal memory about 320MB.
  • Comparitively slow download speeds
  • Bluetooth 1.0.
Price: Rs 17500/- from Flipkart

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray is a phone with great features that you might only find in Android mobile phones above 25k, The best thing about Xperia Ray is it's 8MP camera and 720P HD video recording, there are even rumours on the internet that both the iPhone 4S and the Xperia Ray has the same camera. We are not sure about that but still it is a great camera for sure.

Pros:
  • 8.1MP Camera and 720p HD video recording.
  • 296ppi which is very close to even the iPhone 4S, which implies great clarity on screen
  • Small size and holds well in hand, very thin.
  • Stylish looks
  • Better network performance than competitors.
  • Really fast and good graphics
Cons:
  • Low internal storage ( but being gingerbread apps can be moved to memory card)
  • 3.3 inch screen which is 0.4 inch smaller than Neo and Defy Plus.
  • No HDMI out.

Price: Rs 18000/- from Flipkart

I would definitely go for the Xperia ray if you asked me :)

VideofyMe - another video sharing site that pays you

I recently came across this Swedish video sharing website when one of my friends shared a video on Facebook. The website which has been aimed at Bloggers around the world is a pretty good alternative for people who aim to use Youtube to make some money. Youtube only allows you an option to have ads on your content when you have numerous views for your videos. Another great thing we found about VideofyMe is that you can have your Twitter and Facebook account connected to your VideofyMe account, with an option to post to both the social networks once you upload a video. They also provide Android and iPhone applications so that users can upload videos from their mobile devices as well.

VideofyMe service.

Originally started in Sweden, VideofyMe is finding new users all around the globe with it's attractive and simple user interface. The service also provides you an option to embed videos on your blog etc. VideofyMe pays you for each view count as there is an adsense ad below the video, you are payed a part of what VideofyMe earns.

Indianpad.com gets a new life ?

Indianpad.com home page now
Indianpad.com was the best indian social networking site in it's time and we loved using it. It undoubtedly generated more traffic than any other Indian social bookmarking site of it's time. They had all categories for a top site and also was one of the best maintained site. It had a karma point order of hierarchy where users get points for interaction.

The page was not in function for years now and out of curiosity i just typed the url and the homepage had an Indian map with 'Coming soon' written on it and also a small text box to write in your url and once the page is live the site admin will probably let you know by mail.

Installing Reliance Netconnect on Fedora OS

Well i recently moved to Fedora ( Kernel Linux 3.1.0-7.fc16.i686) which runs GNOME 3.2.1 . My PC runs on a dualcore CPU at 1GB Ram, I was using a Reliance netconnect earlier to browse on the go and after moving i had to install it on Fedora 16.There are no software available for Fedora OS, but it is possible to connect and use the internet.

  • From Fedora Desktop go to Applications > Network Settings

Select Network Settings
  • From the dialog box that opens up select Mobile Broadband and click add as in the picture below (it shows Reliance netconnection as i have configured it already ).

  •  You should see the modem name from the box that appears next, mine is 'Huawei Technologies and Huawei mobile'

Click continue.
  •  Select country from the next box that appears and click continue.
Select country from list.
  •  Now  Select 'Reliance Netconnect'
Select Reliance and continue.

  • Now select reliance connection from the network connections tab on the top-right corner of the desktop.
Click 'Reliance Connection' and get connected

Now you will be successfully connected to the internet. Enjoy browsing :)
